Vote "Yes" on question 1
Heading into the final stretch of the election season and one of the things that Maine voters will be deciding is to allow the state to change it's funding mechanism for Dirigo Health (the states failed and highly flawed universal healthcare solution).
Instead of dreaming up a number of how much they believe they have saved hospitals and insurance companies and essentially billing them for that number, a contentious program, they want to tax all the evil beverages out there AND peoples medical bills. This plan would generate over 75 MILLION dollars a year, from now to kingdom come with no oversight taken to see if Dirigo is actually doing its job of saving money and reducing healthcare costs.
Sounds fishy right? It is and you will see a referendum question come election day asking if you would like to repeal it...Please vote "Yes" on 1. While this will not eliminate Dirigo it will force the State to continue to examine how poorly it has held up against expectations with the hope that someone will just shoot the dying horse as other states are correctly doing.
